Musician/technician/
practitioner
Andrew took interest in music in 2009 at the age of 13, first playing tenor sax at high school; going on to tour Europe on two occasions with his school wind band, as well as attending national competitions. One year later he was introduced to the bass guitar and began playing in bands with schoolmates, as well as playing as many genres as possible whilst practicing. At around this time Andrew also began writing music of his own, and learning guitar. Upon leaving secondary education he received a Grade 8 certification from the Trinity School of Rock and Pop for Bass Guitar.
Continuing to perform and develop his writing, Andrew attended the University of the West of Scotland in 2014, where he began to work with studio and recording software, and began playing drums on occasion. Andrew completed his time at university in 2018, earning his BA (Hons) degree in Commercial Music.
Andrew has played live across the country with a number of bands (some of which are listed below) at venues including King Tut's Wah Wah Hut and Liquid Rooms, and performed at 2017's Party at the Palace festival in Linlithgow with his band Indigo Sixteen. Additionally, Andrew is comfortable performing solo sets with his acoustic guitar if required.
Listening to a wide variety of genres including jazz, indie, punk and prog to name a few, Andrew can cover a range of styles and sounds, playing a number of instruments. Performing at 2017's Edinburgh Festival in gig theatre piece 'Indie As F*ck', theatre and acting is another area that he has experience working in.
Outside of playing, he has worked with West Lothian bands 'The Phantoms' (now 'The Phantom Project') and 'Dictator' on tour as stage tech at sell out shows and supporting acts such as Big Country and The Fratellis, at venues including The Barrowlands, and TRNSMT Festival. With the departure of The Phantoms bassist in 2018, Andrew stepped in to fill the role until August 2019.
From September 2019 to the present day, Andrew has performed as a musician on cruise ships for British holiday makers across the world, working with on-board show teams and guest acts as well as party bands to entertain to the highest quality each night at sea.
More recently, Andrew has performed with jazz trios on upright bass, and is continuing to develop and refine his abilities with bowing techniques when not performing at sea.
